Apple Unveils AirPods 4 and AirPods 4 with ANC: First Standard Model with Noise Cancellation, Available September 20th
If you're thinking of upgrading your iPhone, now’s the perfect time to grab the new AirPods too! Apple is set to release the AirPods 4, which boast a refined shape that the company calls the "most comfortable AirPods ever."
Along with improved audio quality and personalized spatial audio, the earbuds come in two versions: the standard AirPods 4 and the AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) — a first for the regular AirPods line. The ANC model also includes features like Transparency Mode, Adaptive Audio, and Conversational Awareness for a seamless listening experience.
The ANC model that is more expensive is $179, while the basic set costs $129. Preorders for both are open now and will be fulfilled on September 20th.
The formerly exclusive force sensor to the Pro model, which allows you to press the stem to play or pause playback, is now available on both models from Apple. With USB-C charging and a 10% slimmer design, the new AirPods case is available without a cord. In the meantime, the ANC model's cover features a speaker to help with Apple's Find My Locator and wireless charging compatibility for Apple Watch chargers.
With iOS 18, Apple brings Siri Interactions to AirPods models, including the Pro. Users can react to Siri's questions by shaking their head in agreement or disagreement. There is no in-ear fit or noise cancellation in the third version of AirPods.
