Google introduces new tools for locating and tracking shopping discounts.

It's the time of the season to splurge yourself and your family. Google is here to make it easier for you with this new feature.

Google has added a new deals destination page to its main search platform, allowing users to search for specific products and access discounts. The revised default new tab page also contains shopping functionality for Chrome, displaying the most recent deals and discounts for previous purchases.

Google's pricing history and tracking feature is now incorporated into Chrome, allowing users to see a sidebar with information about the product's regular selling price and a 90-day price history graph.

Furthermore, the Chrome web browser will track price changes and coupons and notify users via a notification in the browser's address bar. Users can also choose to be notified on a regular basis for specific products and even receive email notifications when the price of an item reduces.

Many of these aspects will be known to deal hunters. Price tracking and coupon notifications have been given by services such as PayPal's Honey for some time now, so Google isn't exactly reinventing the wheel. However, Google has a large user base, and if those users can perform all of their price tracking and coupon clipping natively on Google Search or in Chrome without the need for extensions, many of them will certainly choose that option.
But it's up to the large IT corporations to fight it out. A deal is a deal regardless of who tells them about it.
