With the Pixel 8 Pro, Google has addressed its recent history of subpar speakers.
If you are me, speakers are one I look for a phone and having a quality one changes everything. Google Pixel phones' speakers have always been a problem, leaving customers wanting more. Google appears to have addressed this issue with the updated Pixel 8 Pro.
This device's audio experience has been greatly enhanced, allowing users to listen to music without sacrificing quality. Pixel phones, including the Pixel 7 Pro, have historically featured tiny and ineffective speakers when compared to other premium handsets. The Pixel 5 debuted an under-display replacement for the earpiece speaker, which offered disappointing sound for all but voice calls. Despite returning to a more traditional configuration, the Pixel 6's sound quality remained dismal.
It looks like someone on the Pixel hardware team realized the need for change and improved the speakers on the Pixel 8 Pro. The improvement is evident, with a world of difference between the Pixel 8 Pro's drivers and its predecessor. Listening to music through the speakers is now a pleasurable experience, with no ear-piercing vocal frequencies.
Google did not disclose any speaker enhancements during the Pixel 8 unveiling, but they are unmistakable. The elimination of the curved display and smaller side rails may have contributed to the better sound quality. Regardless, Google has done an admirable job of reversing the trend of terrible speakers.
