A bug in X (Twitter) deletes pictures posted before December 2014

A significant bug that allowed photos and other media links from before 2014 to vanish has now been confirmed by Twitter X, led by Elon Musk. Don’t worry guys, because the business has stated that the glitch has been repaired, and the problem ought to be entirely resolved in the coming days. It's interesting to note that X has recently had a lot of bugs, and users are not satisfied with it.

X Support wrote today, “Over the weekend we had a bug that prevented us from displaying images from before 2014. No images or data were lost. We fixed the bug, and the issue will be fully resolved in the coming days."

The post makes no mention of the nature of the bug, when it first occurred, or the reason why a fix will take an undetermined period of time. The improvements made by Twitter in 2016 most likely utilised metadata on tweets posted from December 2014 onward to fill in more info from linked webpages and allow attachments that didn't take up the tweet's character limit, and it was only earlier posts that were affected by the glitch.

Celebrity tweets were affected by a Twitter bug, including those from Ellen DeGeneres, who hosted the 2014 Oscars, and Barack Obama, who tweeted after winning the 2012 presidential election. The attempt to transfer the company's domains from Twitter.com to X.com was thought to be the reason for the error. The bug affected well-known posts, including selfies.
