Shopee PH advises vendors to avoid selling products that contain mercury.

Due to claims that it had permitted the sale of skincare items, Shopee Philippines is reportedly taking preventative action against non-compliant goods, including those containing mercury.

The platform puts user security and health first by employing both manual and automated controls, such as blacklisting phrases linked to high mercury levels. Shopee Philippines upholds screening procedures, routinely checks for, and removes products that are in violation of company policies.

"We take a proactive approach to prevent the listing of such items through manual and automated measures, which includes blacklisting of keywords associated with products that are flagged as containing high levels of mercury," Shopee Philippines said.

Shopee has tracker teams and specialized listings teams to take down products that have received FDA warnings. The EcoWaste Coalition urged internet retailers to avoid selling skincare and cosmetics that contain mercury. In order to overcome this issue, Shopee is improving its search engine.

Shopee is working to enhance search capabilities so that it can find and remove listings that are not compliant. To stop the sale of thousands of non-compliant items, the site is also working with regional and municipal authorities on health, including the FDA.
