Several markets now charge more for Spotify Premium.
If you love listening to music on Spotify, well prices for premium will be getting high in some places. The leading provider of music streaming services, Spotify, has formally raised the cost of its Premium subscription in the US to $10.99. The corporation acknowledged that "we are changing our Premium prices across a number of markets around the world" in a blog post published early on Monday morning (July 24).
The statement said, "These updates will help us continue to deliver value to fans and artists on our platform."
Following requests from leaders in the music industry, Spotify has raised its usual $9.99 per month individual subscription pricing in the US. In 50 additional international regions, including Canada, Europe, Asia, South America, and Australasia, the corporation will similarly raise the price of Premium services. There will be a one-month grace period for current Premium subscribers before the new fee takes effect.
This price rise is a response to similar actions taken by other music streaming platforms, including YouTube, which raised the cost of its YouTube Music and YouTube Premium services in the US.
The National Music Publishers Association (NMPA) reports that as of the end of February, Spotify had 44.4 million paying customers in the US. Amazon Music boasts 29.3 million US members, compared to Apple Music's 32.6 million.
Spotify plans to increase Premium prices in various markets, including Andorra, Albania, Argentina, Austria, Australia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Belgium, Bulgaria, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cyprus, Denmark, Ecuador, Estonia, Spain, Finland, France, United Kingdom, Greece, Guatemala, Hong Kong, Croatia, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Iceland, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Latvia, Monaco, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, New Zealand, Peru, Portugal, Serbia, Sweden, Singapore, Slovenia, Slovakia, San Marino, Thailand, Türkiye, United States, and Kosovo.
The price tag for Spotify's Premium Single tier now aligns with rival services' pricing. Apple Music and Amazon Music have also increased their subscription prices. Tidal is also updating its monthly subscription prices in all 61 markets where TIDAL HiFi and HiFi Family tiers are available.
