PH ranks first in the globe in terms of average phone screen time.

This proves that Filipinos are indeed on their phones most of the time.  According to a new survey by Electronics Hub, Filipinos spend nearly a third (32.53%) of their day on their phones, making the Philippines the country with the greatest daily average screen time in the world.

The research, undertaken as part of DataReportal's Digital 2023: Global Overview Report, examined country-level data on screen time for individuals aged 16 to 64.
Brazil came in second with 32.46% of waking hours spent on cell phones, while South Africa followed in third with 31.52%.

According to research, 64% of Brazilian smartphone users have access to services such as Netflix, Apple+, and Amazon's Prime Video. This is very certainly the case in the Philippines, but the study could not explain why.

Despite having the most smartphone users in the world (over 950 million), China only spends 19.54% of its day on phones.

According to the report, the average person spends about 40% of their day, or 6 hours and 37 minutes, using a computer or mobile device—nearly a full shift at the office.

Furthermore, the survey rated average social media screen time as well as screen time on phones and computers by nation. The Philippines came in third place, with 21.91% of waking hours spent on social media (compared to the global average of 2 hours and 31 minutes) and 54.44% of screen time.

The study calculated the percentage of waking hours spent staring at screens for each group based on Sleep Cycle data.

This research underlines the significance of limiting screen time and encouraging a healthy balance of screen time and other activities.
