In Q1, Sy-led Data Lake and SpaceX will start providing satellite internet in Philippines.

The waiting is over because the satellite internet services from Sy-backed Data Lake Inc. and Elon Musk's SpaceX will be available in the Philippines in Q1.

According to a statement, Data Link's Henry Sy Jr. and Anthony Almeda met with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to discuss SpaceX's accelerated entry as an internet service provider (ISP) in the Philippines.

“We are excited to finally introduce Starlink to the Philippine market by first quarter of 2023. The high speed, low latency broadband internet service through the use of satellites will be game-changing in connecting our 7,640 islands to the rest of the world,” said Data Link vice chair and CEO Anthony Almeda.

The original plan was to launch the service before the end of 2022. However, it was pushed back due to delays in the production and deployment of Starlink's low-Earth orbit satellites, which will be used to beam internet connectivity to its users.
