New memory and energy-saving features are now available in Google Chrome
Memory Saver and Energy Saver are now two performance-saving modes included in Google Chrome's most recent update (Chrome 110).
Both modes are said to extend battery life when a device's battery is low by up to 40% and using 10GB less memory, respectively, according to Google.
To make sure that active tabs run as smoothly as possible, Memory Saver mode helps free up memory from tabs that aren't currently being used. You can also reload inactive tabs when you need them.
When your laptop's battery level reaches 20%, the Energy Saver mode kicks in and helps you conserve battery life by reducing background activity and visual effects from websites that have animations and videos.
Additionally, users will have the option to toggle Memory and Energy Saver completely off or exempt a specific set of websites. In Chrome, these controls are located in the three-dot menu.
The most recent Chrome 110 release for Windows, macOS, and ChromeOS now includes the new Memory Saver and Energy Saver modes for Google Chrome.
