Google Maps Now Supports Wear OS Offline

Google Maps Now Supports Wear OS Offline

On Wear OS-powered smartwatches, such as the newly released Pixel Watch 3, which debuted at the Made by Google event on August 13, Google will begin to roll out offline support for Google Maps. Users are now able to see the update, according to a 9to5Google report.

Users will notice a new banner stating, "Offline maps on the phone are auto-downloaded to the watch," as well as a new page named "Offline maps" under the Settings tab of the program after updating Google Maps on Wear OS to the most recent version.

According to the study, your phone's offline maps will sync when it is charging and linked to a Wi-Fi network. In addition, a map of your neighborhood will be downloaded automatically via Google Maps for Wear OS.

Accordingly, users can use offline maps on a Wi-Fi-only Wear OS smartwatch without a phone nearby, and offline maps on a Wi-Fi+LTE Wear OS smartwatch will continue to function even in the absence of a mobile network.

In order to allow users to easily remove downloaded maps with a single click, the program will also display the amount of space that it is occupying. The new Ultra and versions up to the 2021 Galaxy Watch 4 will all receive a Wear OS update from Apple; the feature is anticipated to launch the following month.
