Google just unveiled Bard, a rival to ChatGPT.
This will be the end of ChatGpt as Google unveil “Bard”
Sundar Pichai, CEO of Alphabet, has announced that his company will launch a conversational AI service called Bard to gather feedback from users, followed by a public release in the coming weeks in a blog post.
A little bit of a background ChatGPT is an OpenAI chatbot that will be released in November 2022. It is based on OpenAI's GPT-3 family of large language models and is fine-tuned (a transfer learning approach) using both supervised and reinforcement learning techniques.
Bard on the other hand is also like a chatbot based on a complex language model. These models are trained on massive amounts of data collected online in order to produce compelling responses to user prompts.
“Bard seeks to combine the breadth of the world’s knowledge with the power, intelligence and creativity of our large language models,” Pichai wrote. “It draws on information from the web to provide fresh, high-quality responses.”
The overwhelming interest in ChatGPT has prompted Google's management to declare a "code red" situation for its search business. In a tweet last year, Paul Buchheit, one of Gmail's creators, warned that Google "may be only a year or two away from total disruption" due to AI's rise.
According to the Google post, Bard can be used to plan a friend's baby shower, compare two Oscar-nominated movies, or get lunch ideas based on what's in your fridge.
Pichai also stated on Monday that AI-powered tools will be available soon on Google's flagship Search tool.
“Soon, you’ll see AI-powered features in Search that distill complex information and multiple perspectives into easy-to-digest formats, so you can quickly understand the big picture and learn more from the web,” Pichai wrote, “whether that’s seeking out additional perspectives, like blogs from people who play both piano and guitar, or going deeper on a related topic, like steps to get started as a beginner.”
