Exynos Connect U100 from Samsung is unveiled
Exynos Connect U100, a new ultra-wideband (UWB) chipset from Samsung designed for use in mobile, automotive, and Internet of Things (IoT) devices, was just unveiled.
The Samsung Connect U100 is designed to enable connectivity between users, Samsung devices, and other common objects while providing accurate distance and location information with single-digit centimeter accuracy, according to the company.
“Our Exynos Connect U100 combines sophisticated ranging and positioning capabilities with strong security to enable hyper-connectivity between people and everyday objects, fueling a range of new applications in positioning and location tracking,” said Joonsuk Kim, Executive Vice President of the Connectivity Development Team at Samsung Electronics.
Fast data transfers are possible with UWB, a short-range wireless communication technology that uses a wide frequency spectrum and consumes little power. UWB can be found in many different industries, including those that deal with remote payments, smart keys, smart homes, and smart factories, thanks to its capacity to capture precise spatial and directional data.
Samsung is making its Exynos Connect U100 chip available across all devices, focusing on connectivity and location tracking.
