According to Business Wire, Bumble, a dating app that gained popularity because women initiate conversations, is celebrating Safer Internet Day on February 6 and has released a new tool to stop phony profiles and stop catfishing.
With Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Deception Detector is a new tool that filters out spam and fraud accounts on dating apps before users even see them. It can automatically reject 95% of catfish profiles that are detected. Bumble's goal of making its online dating platforms safer for consumers is furthered by this technology in conjunction with human help.
“In recent years, the online landscape has evolved significantly and we see a growing concern about authenticity,” said Lidiane Jones, CEO at Bumble Inc., in a statement. “Bumble Inc. was founded with the aim to build equitable relationships and empower women to make the first move, and Deception Detector is our latest innovation as part of our ongoing commitment to our community to help ensure that connections made on our apps are genuine.
“With a dedicated focus on women’s experience online, we recognize that in the AI era, trust is more paramount than ever. We are being thoughtful about how to best use new models to reduce the anxiety of making connections and support our community, with AI standing as a main area of focus.”
With the launch of Deception Detector, Bumble Inc. was able to cut down on scams, fraudulent accounts, and spam by 45% in just two months. According to research, the biggest concerns among individuals globally while dating online are scams and matching with phony accounts.
