Basic and Standard Netflix plans no longer charge a monthly fee in the Philippines
Our go-to app for watching the newest or even older movies, series, and shows is Netflix, but because it's a bit pricey and there have been a lot of changes in the past year, many people have decided to cancel their subscriptions and find other apps where they can watch their favorite shows. Filipinos are having a treat with Netflix.
Starting on February 21 in the Philippines, Netflix will reduce the cost of its Basic and Standard subscription plans.
The Standard Plan will now cost Php 399 per month rather than Php 459, and the Basic Plan will now cost Php 249 per month rather than Php 369.
The price reduction will also apply to current subscribers; Netflix will automatically apply the new rates on their subsequent billing cycle.
The monthly subscription fees for the Mobile Plan and Premium Plan will remain at Php 149 and Php 549, respectively.
Given the fierce competition Netflix faces from streaming services like Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, and HBO GO, which have monthly subscription prices ranging from P149 to P369, this move is absolutely necessary.
Recently implemented anti-password sharing measures by Netflix in the US have alienated users, and similar measures are soon to be implemented in the Philippines.
