Automaker GM Creates Self-Cleaning Touchscreen Screens That Remove Fingerprints

Nowadays people are using touch-screen phones and fingerprints are everywhere on the screen so we need to clean it everyday but not all of us would probably do that which is the same with cars. A new screen design that has been patented by General Motors enables touchscreens to automatically remove fingerprints. I know you will think a lot of things about what will happen but it is more clever than you think.

To cut the chase here is how they will do it.

The standard blue, red, and green pixels on the panel will reportedly be integrated with violet pixels. Like ultraviolet light, the violet pixel's light output won't be visible to the human eye, so it won't change the colors you see. An invisible metal-oxide-based photocatalyst coating will also be used in the special display.

A chemical reaction will now result from these two technologies. When the photocatalyst coating is exposed to ultraviolet light, a chemical reaction using the moisture already in the air is produced.

The organic substances that your fingerprints and finger grease and oil left behind will be broken down during this procedure. Everything simply dies out and vanishes once the process is finished.

I know you are excited as I am but the GM hasn't yet said whether or not they'll continue with this project. We will wait and see if this creative idea will pursue in the future.
