According to DICT, the deadline for SIM Registration won't be extended.
I am aware that not many of us take the time to formally register our SIM cards, but you are required to do so as a responsible citizen, especially if you use your phone number to access multiple accounts, such as GCash, Facebook, PayMaya, and others.
Your GCash will be dissolved if you don't register your number before the deadline expires because it won't be usable. Just wanted to let you know that there is no extension and you only have a few days to complete it. It was announced by the Department of Information and Communications Technology that the registration deadline for SIM cards would not be extended past April 26.
The DICT spokesperson, Undersecretary Anna Mae Lamentillo, advised the general public to take the deadline seriously.
“As the deadline for SIM registration draws near, it is imperative that all unregistered citizens take this matter seriously and register their SIMs without delay,” Lamentillo said.
“Take the necessary steps to register your SIMs today and avoid the inconvenience and deactivation that comes with non-compliance.”
All current SIM subscribers must register by submitting a completed form through a database platform or website made available by their telecommunications provider.
The SIM Registration Act (Republic Act No. 11934), the first law signed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in October, aims to control the registration and use of SIMs by requiring all end users to register their SIMs with their telecommunications networks before they are activated.
